High school and college students these days are busier than ever, and it seems to be rare to find someone not constantly on the go between school, clubs, activities, and volunteering. If you're anything like me, going from place to place leaves a lot of room for items to kind of just disappear in the transportation black hole.
For a while, I did try to do the whole notebook and folder for every class thing, but I found that my notebooks and folders tended to get slightly destroyed, or I'd have to carry around several because my notebooks would quickly get filled up. Plus, having so many separate notebooks and folders left a large possibility for me to grab the wrong notebook or folder on accident. If you've never done that, don't. Running to a class and finding out you grabbed all the wrong notes is not a good feeling.
Can you say "insert binder here?"
When buying a binder, it's of course tempting to buy the binder with cute patterns, but I recommend buying a fun solid colored binder with a plastic sleeve in the front. These are usually much more durable and allow you to change out the binder cover.
Here's how I use my binder to keep everything together and organized:
-Every class gets a plastic sleeve with a subject header, a folder, and loose leaf. The binder keeps the folder from getting destroyed, and I don't have to worry about putting in too much paper initially because I can always add more as needed.
-Each plastic sleeve has a custom subject header. You can of course design your own, but you're also more than welcome to use my binder covers! You can see my most recent ones by clicking here.
-With the section folder, I put any papers or homework assignments that I need to either do or turn in on one side. On the other side, I put any in-class work, or worksheets that have already been graded or don't need to be turned in. Any sheets that were passed out simply as notes, get three-hole punched and mixed into my usual notes in the appropriate chronological place.
-As mentioned in last week's organization post, I use sticky note tabs to further organize all my notes! To see a detailed breakdown of how I use sticky note tabs, click here.
My binder makes it super easy for me to grab all of my schoolwork without missing anything, especially when traveling! As you can see, it's really a simple and inexpensive way to keep things organized.
